History

Nottinghamshire is steeped in history from the legendary outlaw Robin Hood and literary greats Lord Byron and D.H. Lawrence, to footballing hero Brian Clough.

It's also home to the Bramley apple, HP Sauce, and the Raleigh Chopper to name but a few!

Nottingham itself is full of historical treasures:- Nottingham Castle, Museum of Costume and Textiles, The Lace Centre and Wollaton Hall which was built in 1588 for Sir Francis Willoughby, and now houses the Nottingham Natural History Museum .

Originally built on the site of the old Albert Hotel in 1969, The Strathdon Hotel was initially very different from the one that you see today.  With only 64 bedrooms, street level bistro and a bar situated where the impressive Boardroom now stands.  Through major development the hotel now has 68 bedrooms, improved conferencing facilities and first floor conservatory, a unique feature of the Strathdon.
